Talking about the most highly achieving singer today, Agnes Monica will be the one that most people talk about. Last year alone, she bagged home 3 titles from the most prestigious award in Indonesian music scene AMI 2010 as Best Pop Female, Best Pop Album, and Best of the Best Album for Sacredly Agnezious album.
The latest award she got in the year end was on December's Indigo Awards 2010 as Best Female Singer, Best Song, and Artist of the Year. On November she also made the national headlines by showing up at the American Music Awards Red Carpet Show.
Now since every article is talking the same thing of her story at the AMAs, I'll only give you a brief points that she told to Femina.
Agnes Monica and Christian Chavez's duet for Donde Estas/Where Did You Go on the Red Carpet Show became trending topic on twitter in Indonesia, Brazil, and some other Latin countries. The rating on AMAs Live Streaming site was so high that they decided both Agnes and Christian should be the guests, not the hosts. Hence, walking on the red carpet.
"I'm most impressed when Perez Hilton (famous gossip blogger) and other media there interviewed me on the red carpet," said Agnes. "The public were very expressive. Lance Bass rushed over our stage to watch us singing and to support us."
Despite some people questioning her dreams, Agnes is answering them with her own way. "Singing on AMA is definitely something. But there's going to be something bigger, a lot bigger! AMA is not the biggest," she stated firmly and yet mysteriously.
What about her next step of the go-international project? "I've been building my path. I already have a management abroad. What's next? Just wait! The (international) management is very strict with the secrecy. There will be a surprise from me in 2011, that's for sure."
You're not afraid of dreaming too much? "No. Dream, believe, then make it happen. These are three things that I often tweet. Don't ever believe people who say, 'You can't do it.' I want to show them. I realize, this dream is much bigger than me, this dream is much bigger than myself.
"After performing at the AMAs, many people left their message on my twitter, 'Thanks, Nez. Because you're there, I dare to dream.' For me this feels amazing."
Once you were accused of lipsync-ing. What about it? "For a long time I'd been silent and yet thinking that I had to say something. So one day when I performed live on TV (Kemilau Mandiri program, when she hit whistle register note), I paused and said, 'You're not gonna say I'm lipsync again.' I think this way is more elegant."
"My clothing line is called Anye. It's how my father calls me. I just love the sound of Anye. My friends in Europe call me Anyes. It sounds cute and has character."
